Since moving to Calistoga in the upper Napa Valley, Cato has developed his political agenda and is now in the public roll-out phase of his upcoming campaign. Early Friday morning he announced to the waking public (his campaign manager) that he has considered and will run as both the President of the United States and Presidente de la Republica de Mexico.
Looking particularly presidential, he perched on the edge of the bed and loudly declaimed that the United States and Mexico had a great deal in common. "Most of the employable men of Mexico are already working in the United States. Whole states have migrated to New York, Texas, Iowa, California, Arizona and other points north. Mexico has been emptied of its people and the United States is the benefactor," he cried before he was knocked off the bed by his campaign manager (it was 4am and too early for a political discussion).
Still he wanted to try out his campaign speech on the people of Calistoga, and while his campaign manager was unable (too sleepy) to issue a press release, Cato headed to the streets to inform members of the public of his new endeavor.
Perched on top of the six foot fence that surrounds his backyard, he regaled the neighborhood with the particulars of his newly created policy for both Mexico and the United States. " This is not an immigration policy, but a real solution to the economic realities that face Mexico and the U.S. Bring statehood to Mexico! Make it the 51st state!"
For several seconds the working class neighborhood that he lives in was quiet, astonished at being addressed at 4:30 am on a Friday morning about statehood for Mexico. Cato rattled on loudly in a combination of English and Spanish until the Mexican immigrant who lives next door turned the hose on him.
